Wissembourg, a border town in the Bas-Rhin, welcomed a notable Jewish community in the modern era, with a documented synagogue and cemetery. The town, on the Alsatian transit route, saw Jewish families settle there from the 17th century onward, taking advantage of letters of protection granted in the region.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Wissembourg give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
