Ptolemaïs (Tolmeta) is a Hellenistic port city in Cyrenaica, founded by the Ptolemies. Inscriptions and historical sources attest to an ancient Jewish community in this region where the Jewish diaspora was particularly dense in the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
