Rabbi born in Algiers, recognized figure in Israel and in the Jewish diaspora of the renewal of North African Sephardic Judaism, decisioner (Morei Horaah) for the chief rabbinate of Jerusalem. His family, established in Tlemcen as far back as the era of Ibn Khaldoun then in Algiers, emigrated to France after the Algerian War before he settled in Jerusalem.
