Petit-fils de Rabbi Israël de Ruzhin, il établit vers 1887 sa cour à Boiany (Bucovine), donnant naissance à la dynastie hassidique de Boyan, branche de Ruzhin-Sadigura. Surnommé le « Pachad Yitzchok », il fut le premier rebbe de Boyan jusqu'à la Première Guerre mondiale et mourut à Vienne en 1917 ; ses quatre fils fondèrent des cours à Czernowitz, Leipzig, Lviv et New York.
