Descendant of the Stretyn dynasty, born in Safed, ordained in Jerusalem (notably by A. I. Kook and Y. H. Sonnenfeld). Brother-in-law, disciple and friend of Yehuda Ashlag, whose commentary on the Zohar he completed (Ma'alot ha-Sullam, 1958). He also published a commentary on the Tikkunei ha-Zohar (1960) and a 14-volume edition of the complete works of Isaac Luria (1961–64).
