Born in Sana'a, disciple of Rabbi Yiḥyeh Kapach (founder of Dor Deah). He was the only Jewish photographer in Yemen on the eve of the great emigration ("Magic Carpet"): virtually all photographs of the Yemenite community sent to Israel are by him. Died in Israel in the 1970s; an album, "Sana'a and Its Surroundings in Photographs by Yehiel Haibi", was published posthumously in 1985.
