Rabbin allemand du XVIIᵉ siècle, l'un des plus grands décisionnaires de son temps. Fils et petit-fils de rabbins de Worms, arrière-arrière-petit-fils (par sa grand-mère Ḥava/Eva Bacharach) du Maharal de Prague. Nommé rabbin de Worms en 1699, il y mourut en 1702. Réputé pour sa critique du pilpoul et sa maîtrise encyclopédique (sciences, musique, histoire, poésie).
