German writer born March 28, 1829 in Sondershausen, died October 15, 1887. Educated in Oriental languages at Leipzig under Julius Fürst and H. L. Fleischer, he taught for a time in an English school, became correspondent for a commercial house in Lyon, then settled in Erfurt, where he founded a business school. Parallel to his pedagogical activity, he pursued learned studies in comparative paremiology, notably on the proverb in Hebraeo-Aramaic literature and in Shakespeare.

Écrivain allemand ; né le 28 mars 1829 à Sondershausen ; mort le 15 octobre 1887. Il étudia les langues orientales à Leipsig sous Julius Fürst et H. L. Fleischer. Plus tard il enseigna quelque temps dans une école anglaise, et occupa ensuite le poste de correspondant dans une grande maison de commerce à Lyon, France. Finalement il s'établit à Erfurt, où il fonda une académie commerciale. Outre son activité pédagogique, Wahl poursuivit des études scientifiques.
