Hungarian actor born in Budapest on 3 April 1844. After studying medicine for a time in Vienna, he joined in 1862 a theatrical company in Laibach, before being a member, from 1874 to 1890, of the Meininger theatre, where he notably played Shylock, Iago and Gessler. He then performed at the Stadttheater in Hamburg, withdrew from the stage in 1899 and established himself there as a diction professor; he is also the author of a play, Wintersonnenwende, which met with great success.

Acteur hongrois ; né à Budapest le 3 avril 1844. Pendant quelque temps, il étudia la médecine à l'Université de Vienne, mais en 1862 il se rendit à Laibach, où il se joignit à une troupe de théâtre. Au cours des dix années suivantes, il joua dans de petits théâtres à Iglau, Klagenfurt, Troppau, Budapest, Leipzig, et Liebenstein ; et de 1874 à 1890 il fut membre du « Meininger », et se produisit dans des rôles tels que _Shylock, Iago, Gessler, Franz Moor_, et _Marinelli_. En quittant le « Meininger », il obtint un engagement au Stadttheater de Hambourg, où ses principaux rôles furent _Graf Trast, Doctor Crusius_, et _Graf Menges_. En 1899, il se retira de la scène, et s'établit comme professeur d'élocution à Hambourg. Il a écrit une pièce intitulée « Wintersonnenwende », qui a eu un succès considérable.
