British writer and political analyst, former volunteer in the International Brigades in Spain, he became one of Margaret Thatcher's principal advisors after 1975. In 1974 he co-founded with Keith Joseph the Centre for Policy Studies, of which he was director, the think tank of Thatcherism. He also collaborated with the Israeli daily Haaretz.
