Region: Łęczyca et ghetto de Łódź (Pologne)
Né en 1907 à Łęczyce (Pologne), interné à partir de 1940 dans le ghetto de Łódź. Il répond aux déportations de fin 1941 par un long poème, « Lekh-Lekho », qui oppose le passé juif traditionnel au présent tragique, suivi d'un second poème sur l'expulsion, « Friling 1942 ». Il fut le mentor de la romancière Chava Rosenfarb dans le ghetto. Déporté à Auschwitz le 28 août 1944 et gazé. Ses deux poèmes, retrouvés dans les ruines du ghetto, furent publiés par la Commission historique juive en 1946.
