Née Henriette-Rosine Bernard à Paris en 1844, d'une mère juive néerlandaise (Judith/Julie Bernard). Tragédienne la plus célèbre de son temps (« la Divine »). Elle a laissé une œuvre écrite : ses mémoires Ma Double Vie (1907), un drame (L'Aveu) et des textes, en plus d'une activité de peintre et sculptrice.
