Rabbin de Tunis, fils de Rabbi Yéhouda Samama et petit-fils, par sa mère, du grand rabbin de la communauté túnsi (indigène) Nathan Borgel (m. 1792). Il est l'auteur d'un ouvrage rabbinique, « Sheresh Ishi », publié à titre posthume à Livourne en 1809 grâce à son frère Isaac Haï Semama. Il est aussi le père du célèbre caïd Nessim Samama.
