Born Sabine Chwast in Warsaw, she married Miron Zlatin (a Jew originally from Russia/Belarus). Member of the OSE, she organized in 1943 the Maison d'Izieu, a refuge for Jewish children, razzia'd by Klaus Barbie on April 6, 1944 (44 children and 7 adults deported, including her husband Miron, murdered). She published her memoirs in 1992.
