American jurist, Justice of the United States Supreme Court (1993-2020). A pioneer of women's rights, she drew explicitly on the Jewish tradition of justice (tsedek) and repair of the world (tikkun olam). A cultural icon, she embodied the Jewish commitment to equality and civil rights.
