Grand rabbi of Djerba for about twenty years, he then led the Jewish community of Djerba in Paris for his last 17 years, founding there a talmud-torah and a small yeshiva « Torah we-Raḥamim ». Keeper of the traditions of Djerba, he left several works; he was buried in Jerusalem (Givat Shaul cemetery), his funeral bringing together in particular R. Ovadia Yosef and R. Meir Mazuz.
