Born in Sanaa, he is Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Ono and member of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Doctor of law (Tel-Aviv University) and former teacher of Mishpat Ivri at Bar-Ilan, he is the principal disciple of Rav Yosef Qafih and, since 2000, the leading figure of the Yemenite movement following Maimonides' rulings. He chairs the Mekhon Mishnat ha-Rambam and the organization Halikhot Am Yisrael.
