Né à Hamadan en avril 1912, fils de Davoud Kohan, marchand juif de la ville. Rédacteur en chef du grand quotidien Keyhan pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, fondateur du magazine Kavian, romancier et traducteur prolifique (Tolstoï, Dostoïevski, Flaubert). Exilé après le coup d'État de 1953.
