Dirigeant de la communauté juive de Tripoli, il composa une histoire des Juifs de Tripoli (aujourd'hui perdue) qui servit de source à des historiens ultérieurs (Adadi, Slouschz), ainsi que des piyyutim. Il est l'auteur de Hayyei Avraham, commentaire des mitzvot du Choulhan Aroukh (écrit en 1780, imprimé à titre posthume en 1826 par son fils Rahamim).
