Originaire de Marrakech, il étudia à Salé puis exerça à Constantine comme abatteur rituel et juge au tribunal rabbinique. Il laissa deux ouvrages imprimés à Tunis : un traité sur l'abattage rituel et un recueil de sermons paru après sa mort ; tous deux furent réédités à Jérusalem.
