Ottolenghi, Emilio

Italian philanthropist, born in Acqui on 5 November 1830, residing in Alessandria since 1848. Elected to the municipal council in 1882 and reelected several times, he sits on the council of the refuge for the indigent, founds asylums, directs the Bank of Italy, the savings bank and the local Jewish community, and presides over the national society of the Province of Alessandria. Made knight then commander of the Crown of Italy, he was created Count of Vallepiana by Humbert I on 22 February 1883.

Philanthrope italien ; né à Acqui le 5 novembre 1830 ; depuis 1848 il réside à Alessandria, Piémont. En 1882 il a été élu au conseil municipal et a été réélu pendant plusieurs années. Il a également été membre du conseil consultatif du « Ricovero di Mendicità », fondateur de refuges et d'asiles, et est directeur de la Banque d'Italie, de la Caisse d'épargne, et de la communauté hébraïque, ainsi que président de la société nationale pour la province d'Alessandria. Ottolenghi a été successivement créé chevalier, officier et commandeur de la Couronne d'Italie par Humbert Ier, qui l'a créé (22 février 1883) comte de Vallepiana.
