Olivier Wormser (1913–1985), from a Jewish family of Lorraine and Alsace, joined the Free French Forces in 1940. Ambassador of France to Moscow then to Germany, he was Governor of the Bank of France from 1969 to 1974 and an architect of the law of 3 January 1973 on the Bank of France.
