Né à Florence en 1925, arrêté en 1944 et déporté à Auschwitz avec 11 membres de sa famille, dont il fut le seul survivant ; libéré à Buchenwald. Devenu l'un des principaux témoins italiens de la Shoah, il a consigné sa mémoire familiale dans le livre « A 5405, il coraggio di vivere » (2003), du nom de son matricule d'Auschwitz.
