Described as the most eminent Karaite personality in Egypt at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. Lawyer graduated from the Faculty of Law of Cairo (1886), appointed to head a magistracy chamber by Khedive Abbas Helmi (1901, title of Bey), legislative adviser to the Karaite community. Recognized poet in literary Arabic and pioneer of Hebrew-Arabic lexicography.
