First Rebbe of the Hassidic dynasty of Savran, son of Rabbi Shimon Shlomo (I), maggid of Savran and disciple of the Maggid of Mezeritch. Disciple of his father, of Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berditchev and of Rabbi Boruch of Mezhbizh; he became after them rabbi of Berditchev, then of Ouman and Kishinev, at the head of thousands of hassidim.
