Né à Haïfa dans une famille de Juifs syriens ; son père était d'Alep, sa mère (installée à Manchester) d'origine alépine. Architecte de renommée mondiale : Habitat 67 à Montréal, le nouveau musée de Yad Vashem à Jérusalem, Marina Bay Sands et Jewel Changi Airport à Singapour, le Crystal Bridges Museum, etc. Il a aussi publié plusieurs ouvrages sur l'architecture.
