Un médecin Marrane et poète. En Hollande, à un âge avancé, il retourna ouvertement au judaïsme vers l'année 1605 ; et pour célébrer son initiation il composa quelques tercets en espagnol. Tamar Barrocas, une Juive Marrane, probablement une de ses parentes, souffrit la mort de martyre sur le bûcher à Lisbonne, 3 août 1603, en compagnie de Diego de la Ascension.
