Probablement né en Espagne, petit-fils d'un Moïse Albelda établi à Salonique. Rabbin d'Arta (Grèce) en 1534, puis de Valona (Albanie). Ses écrits, à dominante philosophique, sont des recueils de sermons et d'expositions bibliques. Ses fils Juda et Abraham Albelda publièrent ses œuvres après sa mort.
