Born in Płock in a rabbinical family, teacher of Jewish History and Literature in Warsaw. Active in the Warsaw Ghetto (clandestine schools for children), close to Janusz Korczak, he survived by passing as Christian after 1943. Settled in London around 1947, he was secretary of the British section of YIVO and contributed to the Jewish Chronicle.
