Born in 1830 in Kosiv, son of R. Chaïm Hager of Kosiv and son-in-law of R. Israël Friedman of Ruzhyn. Appointed rebbe at age 24, he settled in Vyzhnytsia and there founded the Hasidic court of Vizhnitz. His Torah teachings were published under the title Tzemach Tzaddik. Died in 1884, buried in Vyzhnytsia.
