Born in Paris in 1902, son-in-law of Théophile Bader (founder of the Galeries Lafayette) through his marriage to Paulette Bader (1926). Engaged early in the Resistance after the aryanization of the family business, he conceived with Henri Frenay and René Hardy the plan for railway sabotage known as the 'Plan Vert' prepared for the landings. Arrested on 12 June 1943 and deported (Buchenwald, Struthof). President of the Galeries Lafayette from 1945 to 1971.
