Né à Paris en 1902, gendre de Théophile Bader (fondateur des Galeries Lafayette) par son mariage avec Paulette Bader (1926). Engagé tôt dans la Résistance après l'aryanisation de l'entreprise familiale, il conçoit avec Henri Frenay et René Hardy le plan de sabotage ferroviaire dit 'Plan Vert' préparé pour le débarquement. Arrêté le 12 juin 1943 et déporté (Buchenwald, Struthof). Président des Galeries Lafayette de 1945 à 1971.
