Active member of the Cairo Jewish community (secretary of the community tax from 1938 to 1942), he wrote for several newspapers from the 1930s onwards and directed the monthly journal Kadima. He published two seminal historical monographs on the Jewish past of Egypt, interweaving biblical motifs and Pharaonic history in a Zionist reading.
