American physicist born into a Jewish family, specialist in plasma physics and controlled thermonuclear fusion. He lent his name to the "Rosenbluth formula" (electron diffusion) and co-signed in 1953 the Metropolis algorithm, ranked among the ten most influential algorithms of the 20th century.
