History register · custodian, not owner
Born Marcel Bloch in Paris to Jewish parents, he founded before the war the Société des Avions Marcel Bloch. Arrested by Vichy then deported to Buchenwald as a political hostage, he refused to direct an aircraft factory for the occupier. After Liberation, he renamed his company Avions Marcel Dassault (after the code name of his brother Paul in the Resistance) and developed the Mirage, the Falcon, and later the Rafale.
