Compté parmi les grands sages de Djerba, il s'installa ensuite comme rabbin à Tibériade, où il mourut à 65 ans et fut inhumé dans l'ancien cimetière. Il est l'auteur de l'ouvrage « Ner Tamid », commentaire sur la Guemara et le Choulhan Aroukh.
