German Jewish physician, one of the most influential sexologists of the twentieth century. He opened in 1919 in Berlin the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the world's first institute of sexology, and advocated for homosexual rights (Wissenschaftlich-humanitäres Komitee). His works were targeted by Nazi book burnings in 1933.
