Löw, Moritz

Astronomer, born in Mako, Hungary, in 1841, and died in Steglitz, near Berlin, on 25 May 1900; he studies at the universities of Leipzig and Vienna, then obtains his doctorate in Budapest in 1867. Assistant at the Leipzig observatory, he is appointed in 1883 head of section at the Prussian geodetic institute in Berlin, with the title of professor, and publishes several works on astronomy and geodesy, including determinations of latitude in the Harz massif (1887-91).

Astronome ; né à Mako, Hongrie, en 1841 ; mort à Steglitz, Berlin, le 25 mai 1900 ; a étudié aux universités de Leipzig et Vienne, et a reçu son doctorat de l'Université de Budapest (1867). Après son diplôme, il devint assistant à l'observatoire de Leipzig, et en 1883 fut nommé chef de section à l'institut prussien de géodésie à Berlin, avec le titre de professeur.
