Low, A. Maurice

Anglo-American journalist and writer, born in London on July 14, 1860, trained at King's College School and in Austria before devoting himself to journalism. Washington correspondent for the Boston Globe from 1888, then for the London Daily Chronicle from 1896 — the first Washington correspondent appointed by an English newspaper — he has directed since 1896 the American column of the National Review and publishes in 1901 the novel The Supreme Surrender.

Écrivain anglo-américain ; né à Londres le 14 juillet 1860. Éduqué à la King's College School dans cette ville, et ensuite en Autriche, il s'est consacré au journalisme. Depuis 1888, il est correspondant à Washington, D.C., pour le « Boston Globe », et depuis 1896 pour le « Daily Chronicle » de Londres, étant le premier correspondant à Washington nommé par un journal anglais.

Les positions journalistiques de Low ont été nombreuses. Depuis 1896, il a édité le département américain de la « National Review » de Londres ; il a écrit « The United States and Its Dependencies » pour le « Annual Register » (Londres, 1901) ; et il est collaborateur de la majorité des revues les plus influentes en Angleterre et en Amérique, notamment « Collier's Weekly », « Harper's Weekly », « The Forum », « North American Review », « Scribner's », « McClure's », et « The Fortnightly Review ». Il est l'auteur de « The Supreme Surrender », un roman (New York, 1901).
