Financial Secretary to the Treasury (1932–1934), Minister of Transport (1934–1937) — he introduced the « Belisha beacons » (orange flashing globes at pedestrian crossings) — then Secretary of State for War (1937–1940). His grandfather Isaac Belisha presided over the Sephardic community of Manchester.
