Né en 1899 à Kirchhain (Hesse) dans une famille juive, Leo Strauss est l'un des philosophes politiques majeurs du XXe siècle. Contraint à l'exil par le nazisme, il enseigne à la New School (New York) puis à l'Université de Chicago.
