Kohen-Ẓedek bar Ivomai (bar Abimai)
Create the Great Book with our AIכהן צדק בר איבומאי
Region: Babylonie (académie de Sura)
History register · custodian, not owner
Gaon, whose responsa — written in Hebrew (not in Aramaic as most earlier geonim) and in concise terms — cover all domains of halakha, particularly the laws of blessings and texts of the liturgy. He is said to have devoted an entire work to the Seder of Passover and is considered the first gaon (even before Natronaï b. Hilai) to have composed a prayer book. He was careful not to impose on communities the customs of the Babylonian academies.
