Born in Sarajevo to "one of the oldest Sephardic families of Bosnia-Herzegovina." Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, specialist in Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) and Hispanic literature. He collected and studied the linguistic forms and Judeo-Spanish romances of Bosnia, Priština, and Skopje. Deported, he died in Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945.
