Uncle of Salomon ibn Verga. Forced to flee Seville when the Inquisition was established, he hid in Lisbon. An astronomer, he invented an instrument for determining the solar meridian (Lisbon, c. 1457) and left scientific treatises (arithmetic "Keli ha-Ofeḳi", method for measuring heights, astronomy), preserved in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
