Electrical engineer and industrialist (light bulb factory in Vienna), close advisor to Theodor Herzl. First president of the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemet, 1902-1907): he is at the origin of the blue pushka of the KKL, the « Golden Book » and the Fund's stamps. The KKL was founded on the basis of a memorandum he drafted and which was read at the 5th Zionist Congress (1901).
