Israël Jacob, banquier et philanthrope allemand né en 1729 à Halberstadt et mort en 1803, fut agent de cour du duc de Brunswick et du margrave de Bade ; on lui doit la suppression de la taxe corporelle imposée aux Juifs dans l'État de Bade. Il prit aussi part aux conférences tenues à Berlin et à Spandau sur la répartition de l'impôt juif entre les communautés prussiennes.
