Rabbi in Alt-Ofen in the early 19th century, son of Mordekhaï ben Abraham Benet. He is the author of the « Toledot Mordekhaï Benet » (Alt-Ofen, 1832), whose first part retraces the biography of his father and the second gathers various writings of his, including a sermon delivered for Shabbat Teshouva in 1826; the biography itself is written in pure and clear Hebrew.

Rabbi à Alt-Ofen au début du dix-neuvième siècle ; fils de Mordecai b. Abraham [Benet](/articles/2937-benet-mordecai-b-abraham-marcus-benedict) (Marcus Benedict). Jacob fut l'auteur de « Toledot Mordekai Benet » (Alt-Ofen, 1832). La première partie contient une biographie, et la seconde divers écrits de son père : « Liḳḳuṭim », explications de passages bibliques ; explication homilétique de « dayyenu » telle qu'elle apparaît quinze fois dans la Haggadah de Pesaḥ ; sermon sur Shabbat Teshubah, prononcé en 1826 ; commentaire sur le Cantique de Déborah ; « Ḥiddushe Halakot ». La biographie est écrite dans un style hébreu pur et facile.
