Rabbin polonais, mort à Lublin en 1648. D'abord rabbin et enseignant à la yeshiva de cette ville, il fut appelé au rabbinat de Brest, où il reçut en 1631 R. Yom-Ṭob Lipmann Heller, qui parle de lui avec grand respect, avant de revenir comme rabbin à Lublin jusqu'à sa mort. Connu comme « le Gaon Rabbi Jacob de Lublin », il forma les rabbins polonais les plus éminents de son temps ; peu de ses responsa ont été conservés, mais des novellæ de lui et de son fils R. Höschel demeurent en manuscrit.
