Born on July 14, 1858 in Szczawnik, doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, he was rabbi of the Jewish community of Heřmanův Městec (Bohemia) from 1908 to 1938. Deported to Theresienstadt on December 5, 1942, he died there on October 19, 1943. He is documented as a victim of the Shoah in several memorial databases.
