Israël, Oskar

German physician born in Stralsund on September 6, 1854, trained at the Universities of Leipzig, Kiel, and Berlin (doctorate in 1877). Entering in 1878 as an assistant at the pathology institute of his alma mater, he becomes first assistant in 1885—the year he also obtains his habilitation as privat-docent—then assistant professor in 1893. Author of numerous pathology essays, he publishes notably the "Practicum der Pathologischen Histologie" (Berlin, 1888, 2nd ed. 1898).

Médecin allemand ; né à Stralsund, 6 sept. 1854 ; estudiantin dans les universités de Leipsic, Kiel et Berlin (M.D. 1877). En 1878, il entra à l'institut de pathologie de son alma mater en qualité d'assistant ; en 1885 devint premier assistant ; fut admis dans la faculté de médecine de la même année en tant que privat-docent ; et en 1893 fut nommé professeur assistant.

Israel a écrit de nombreux mémoires dans les revues médicales, notamment sur la pathologie. Il est l'auteur de : « Practicum der Pathologischen Histologie », Berlin, 1888 (2e éd., 1898 ; traduit en français par Letulle et Critzman) ; « Internationaler Beitrag zur Wissenschaftlichen Medizin », _ib._ 1891 ; « Elemente der Pathologischen Diagnose », _ib._ 1898.
