Israel, James

History register · custodian, not owner

German physician born in Berlin in February 1848, doctor of medicine from Berlin in 1870. Settled in the capital, he became adjunct surgeon at the Israelite hospital in 1875 then chief surgeon in 1880, and received the honorary title of professor in 1894. A prolific author of more than a hundred medical essays and works, he notably published works on actinomycosis (1885) and nerve surgery (1894).

Médecin allemand ; né à Berlin en février 1848 ; M.D. Berlin, 1870. S'étant établi dans la capitale allemande, il devint en 1875 chirurgien assistant à l'Hôpital israélite, et en 1880 chirurgien en chef. En 1894, il reçut le titre honorifique de professeur.

Israel est un écrivain prolixe, ses essais et ouvrages se chiffrant à plus de 100. Parmi ceux-ci on peut mentionner : « Klinische Beiträge zur Aktinomykose des Menschen », 1885 ; « Erfahrungen über Nervenchirurgie », Berlin, 1894 ; et « Statistische Uebersicht über 191 Nierenoperationen », in « Verhandlungen des Internationalen Kongress zu Moskau », 1897.
